The waist to hip ratio is the dimensionless ratio of the circumference of the waist to that of the hips. It is calculated for the measurement of fitness of men and women.
The waist to hip ratio measurement is calculated by dividing the measurement of waist by the measurement of hip.
Calculation formula:
Waist Hip Ratio (WHR) = Waist (inch or cm) / Hip (inch or cm)
Limit:
For a healthy women have ratios of 0.65 to 0.75 while healthy men have 0.80 to 0.90.
In women, a Waist to Hip Ratio greater than 0.79 is associated with greater than average risk.
In men, a Waist to Hip Ratio greater than 0.95 is associated with greater than average risk.
Note: Different studies have found that women with a waist-to-hip ratio of 0.65 to 0.70 are more consistently rated as highly attractive by men.
