The creatinine clearance test is a clinical test to check the kidney function. It is also called a serum creatinine test, is a way for doctors to measure how well your kidneys are working.
Creatinine Clearance = ((Urine Creatinine × Days Urine Volume) ÷ (Serum Creatinine × 1440)
Creatinine Clearance Calculation by Mass
This equation is a simple re-write of the standard formula: Clearance = UV/P.
Where,
• The volume term V is actually best represented as V dot (for flow), with units of mL/min.
• The term UV is the mass of creatinine excreted in one day.
• The constant 0.0144 is a properly scaled version of the number of minutes in one day: 1440
Equation:
Creatinine Clearance = (Urine Creatinine Mass at 24 Hours ÷ Serum Creatinine Concentration) ÷ 0.0144
Creatinine Clearance Calculation by Cockcroft-Gault Equation
Creatinine Clearance = Sex × ((140 - Age) / (Serum Creatinine)) × (Weight / 72)
- Where, Sex = For Female (0.85) & For Male (1)
